New Bishop-Elect of the Diocese of Kilmore:

Fr. Martin Hayes, Newhill, Two-Mile Borris has been unveiled by Pope Francis as the new Bishop of Kilmore. His appointment follows the retirement of Bishop Leo O’Reilly in December of 2018.

The new Bishop-elect received his primary school education at Saint Kevin’s National School, Littleton, and his secondary school education in Thurles CBS. He studied for the priesthood in St. Patrick’s College, Thurles and was ordained on June 10th, 1989 by Archbishop Dermot Clifford.

Congratulations to Fr. Martin and his family. The people of his native parish were thrilled to hear the news of his appointment and wish him every success and blessing in his new role as Bishop of Kilmore.

A Prayer for Bishop-Elect Martin:

God, eternal shepherd, you tend your Church in many ways and rule us with love. You have chosen your servant, Martin, to be shepherd of your flock in the Diocese of Kilmore. Give him a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he build your Church as a sign of salvation for the world. Amen.
