The aim of the Award is to empower young people to become more visible in their church and their parish.  It challenges them to give of their time, their talents and their social skills for the well-being of others and for the Glory of God.

The Award is committed to helping young people enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional and social development through participation in school, parish and community activities.

The Award is open to young people who are in Transition Year. There are four awards available:

 

Gold Award:

Church Involvement – 1 hour per week x 20 weeks.

Parish Involvement – 1 hour per week x 20 weeks

Personal Reflection.

Silver Award:

Church Involvement – 1 hour per week x 14 weeks.

Parish Involvement – 1 hour per week x 14 weeks

Personal Reflection.

 

Bronze Award:

Church Involvement – 1 hour per week x 8 weeks.

Parish Involvement – 1 hour per week x 8 weeks

Personal Reflection.

 

Papal Cross Award:

Church Involvement – 1 hour per week x 26 weeks.

Parish Involvement – 1 hour per week x 26 weeks

 

 

Project.

Fifteen young people from the parish participated in the above awards during 2018.  Over the last twelve months they were involved in many activities including:

  • Organising a special Mass for students preparing for their Junior and Leaving Certificate Examinations.
  • A Healing Mass for sick in the parish.
  • Listening Process in the parish
  • Erecting a statue to Our Lady in Two-Mile-Borris Church grounds.

 The participants will be presented with their medals by Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly in the Anner Hotel on Thursday, November 8th at 7.30pm.
