Back in February you and members of your Parish Pastoral Team and Finance Team attended one of our information evenings to hear some of our ideas for the next phase of fundraising for the reroofing of the Cathedral of the Assumption in Thurles. At these meetings we took note of your thoughts and opinions on our proposed plans and really appreciated you attending on the night and for your input.
We apologise for not getting back to you all before now, but over the last few months the Thurles Parish Fundraising committee have been working to get to what we hope will be a successful fundraising campaign. The next phase of this campaign has been named “In Our Hands – Preserving our Cathedral”.
On 26th September 2025 we will be announcing this next phase. We are going with the idea of ‘Donate a Slate’ as we discussed at the information evenings but with 4 options to donate:
- Purchase a full bundle (4) of slates with a once off donation of €1,000.
- Spread the cost of a bundle with four annual payments of €250 allowing people to contribute at a pace that suits their finances.
- Buy a single slate for €250 offering a meaningful and more affordable option for those who want to be part of the effort.
- Make a donation of your choice, large or small – every euro counts, and every donation brings us closer to our goal.
Over the next few weeks, we will be sending brochures to your Parish, and these will have all this information and ways to donate to our fundraiser.
